2005 Vintage
This wine (65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon) won a gold medal in the "Branded Brodeaux" category in this year's Lianhe Zaobao Wine Review. It's a wine made in huge quantities by the large negociant Dourthe. Quite a bit of fine French oak on the nose for first impressions. Fresh, sedcutive blackcurrant fruit emerges after a bit of coaxing without a hint of greeness. A deeply scented nose with primary yet very appealing aromas. Medium to full bodied on the palate with rather impressive concentration and depth of flavours. Ripe and somewhat drying tannins and well-balanced acidity prolong the finish. The lush fruit flavours remind me somewhat of an Australian wine but it still holds that Old World charm especially on the nose.
