Wine Details

Medium red with a bright purple hue, cloudy in the center. Aromas of red cherry licorice but not too weighty. It is not overly fruity, but has an interesting cola touch. Deliciously complex. Smoke and vanilla again. Good balance and complexity. Great in spring and summer when heavy aussies are too much.

Nice rich ruby color. dusty. medium fruits. Smoky. Vanilla. Very slight chocolate. juicy prune. smooth. Slightly bitter. Coffee. Something else I can't identify. long but mild tanins. Complex finish. Has a certain Bordeaux feel to it, with the strong notes you get from cab sauv.

The colour is deep, a brooding, bruised purple with a touch of ruby on the rim. The nose is brambles and forest floor with edges of roasted herbs and a hint of chocolate. The palate is the best of the nose - this is an exceptionally well-rounded wine for the price. Rustic and mouthfilling without being overbearing. The bramble and cassis fruit are pure and juicy, without confection, held up by good acidity while backed by fantastic dark tones and well-rounded tannins. That dark edge seems to be a hallmark of well-made Portuguese reds, much like chocolate cherries mark well-made Italians. The finish lingers 18.04.2007
