The wine is dark dense garnet red, not the paler red which is more often associated with the grape. The medium-intensity nose shows red and black fruits, and it has a slightly raisiny aroma. The indicators are that there is plenty of fruit in the blend. This is borne out on the palate, with integrated acidity and tannins combined with ripe fruit creating a full-bodied mouthful. Plum, blackcurrant and a hint of spice carry the wine through to a medium-long finish which rounds off the tasting with a satisfying flourish. This is definitely juicy wine to get your teeth into, alone or with hearty food, and it probably has a couple of years left in it for those who can resist cracking open their supply long enough to cellar it. But why wait when you can enjoy Grenache at its best in this bottle?
