Dark clear burgundy red. Straight out of the cellar, the nose is closed. Perhaps a little dusty cassis. Quite sour and tart in the mouth with soft tannin. As it warms, the tartness disappears, replaced by smoky cedar and ripe toasted savoury blackberry. The tannins open out becoming fuller, albiet a little rough. This wine certainly has the austere character of a Pauillac, but with surprising sophistication for 13,95 €. I like it.
