Vineyard: www.epicurious.comImprovements to the estate in the 1970s have resulted in a string of excellent wines during the 1980s. The wines are thought to be comparable to those from a DEUXIÈME CRU (second growth) or
TROISIÈME CRU (third growth) of the MÉDOC. There are about 12,000 to 16,000 cases of red wine and 1,500 to 2,500 cases of white wine produced by the nearly 82-acre château. The grape blend used for the red wines is around 60 percent CABERNET SAUVIGNON, 30 percent MERLOT, 5 percent CABERNET FRANC, and 5 percent PETIT VERDOT. White wines use SAUVIGNON BLANC and SÉMILLON, about evenly proportioned. The white wines, which have developed an excellent reputation since the mid-1980s, can AGE for up to about 10 years. The red wines will last for up to 20 years. L'Abeille de Fieuzal is the SECOND LABEL for this château.
