Deep red purple. On the nose there are mineral notes along with noticable oak (vanila). The oak is not extreme and reminds somewhat of sweet woods. Smooth in the mouth, with nicely balanced tannins & acid, if not a little weak on fruit. The oak is too much for me but is probably fine for most people.
This practically radiates a range of aromas and flavors, balancing ripe cherry, blackberry and plum fruitwith hints of minerals and sweet spices that sing for days on the finish. Tempting to drink, but you should wait. Best from 2008 through 2020
Decanted ½ hr. Strong, dense blueberry and mint nose. Predominately rich and concentrated blueberry and plum with a nice combination of secondary flavors of blackberry, pepper, spice, eucalyptus and tar. A touch sweet with a silky texture, polished tannins and some acidity, yet slightly thin on the back of the palate with a medium finish. Excellent Shiraz for the price. - GreenDrazi
This was compared to some italian wines, and it was a relative beast! Huge Pride-like nose, a little jammy, definitely Aussie shiraz, although I didn't find that minty side I like in Shiraz. On the palate it was quite full-bodied but not over-extracted or sweet, with a long finish. No bitterness, this is a nice and round wine. The alcohol was listed as 14.1-16%, and I would bet it's somewhere in the middle- it felt like 15% or so. This could probably use a little time to settle down, and the question was raised whether or not a wine like this improves with age. I don't know. In my books it's worth about 90 or 91 points right now. I'll have another crack at one in a few months. - grossie
