Dark garnet red. Fresh from the cellar the nose is closed, but there is a distinct aroma of bicarbonate of soda. 40 minutes later the nose is still very tight, with maybe a little cranberry and red cherry, along with faint notes of leather. In the mouth, cherries, plums and celery. Fine grained tannins and reasonable acid. Good balance and a medium length finish, albiet a little monotonous. I don't know about this one. It's nice to drink, with plenty of rich tart fruit, but maybe a little predictable. The weak nose lets it down.

A deep red colour with a hint of cherry red. Aniseed races and high roast, the hallmarks of a classic Rioja. It is elegant in the mouth, acidity blends with the warmth of smooth tannin. From the American wood to produce an elegant finish with very smooth traces of roasted coffee.
