Dark cloudy red with a very faint purple tinge. Old world aromas of dark earthy fruits, smoke and spice. There is a distinct sherbet, or soda aroma to this wine making it interesting. In the mouth strong rustic tannins and good strong acids. Goosberries and sour cherries. Very long finish. This is not a wine for everyone but I like the rustic, almost brutish, earthy character with good strong fruit.
Perfect for spicier foods, this delighful Sangiovese blended with Cabernet Sauvignon reveals notes of dusty sweet and sour cherries, earthy berry fruit, a medium body, an excellent texture, and a long finish, with a hint of roasted almonds. It should drink well for 2-5 years. Cultivated on a mid-level vineyard within the estate, it is aged 12 months, half in tonneaux and half in large oak casks.
