Pale lemon yellow. Nose of cosmetics and honey. Mild flavours of goosberries in the mouth. It has quite a sour finish. This is the same wine as we drank last year in the eWine Weißwein event and it has definitely deteriorated since then.

Soft clear lemon yellow. On the nose you immediately notice fresh fizzy sweet fruits. Beautiful nose. Honeydew melon. Very complex. I can tast orange. It is crisp and acid. This is a nice wine. Martin bought this at Aldi!

Zitrusgelb, weiche Frucht, Honigmelone, Pfirsich, leichte Kräuternote, etwas bitter am Gaumen, langer Abgang mit Säure im Hintergrund, ein guter Sommerwein. ★★★↑

Transparent straw color. Orange blossom and a hint of fresh herbs, on the aromatic side as you'd expect of Albariño. Crisp and bright, orange peel segues into an intriguing bitter-orange flavor, dry and appropriately acidic, leaving a mixed-citrus tang in a very long finish.

This Albarino has an attractive yellow lemony colour with greenish tones in the rim. It is bright, clean and has tiny bubbles. Outstanding because of its special intensity and elegance, its aroma brings to mind dew drenched fresh herbs and the perfume of ripe apples and apricots and peaches. On the tongue there is a complex range of flavours among which the freshness of the vegetation from the valley and the essence of this particular varietal are extremely well-enhanced. Persistent, full-bodied and well-structured and long aftertaste... a true classic. Recommended food pairing: Seafood, read more... fish, poultry, rice and fresh cheese

Burgáns, a winery at the top of Mount Burgáns in Salnés Valley, has developed a worldwide appreciation for the delicious Albariño variety, a grape that was relatively unknown outside of the Rías Baixas prior to 1980. This wine is produced at the famed Bodegas Martín Códax. Luciano Amoedo, the winemaker, is credited as being the founder of Rías Baixas.

Unusual for the area, Códax only uses its own estate grapes, rather than buying them from local growers. Albariño covers more than 90% of the Rías Baixas (REE-ahse BYCE-ahse) appellation (Denomination of Origin, or DO) in northwest Spain and northeast Portugal. Created in 1988, the DO’s popularity is a recent phenomenon. The cooler, more moist climate near the Atlantic Ocean results in fresh, crisp wines that are a natural partner to the seafood-dominated diet of this area of the world.
