Dark transparent ruby red with a glow to it. Soft aromas of black cherries with a little cassis. A touch of something like prune. Juicy almost ripe fruits with fine tannins and subtle acid. Medium bodied and medium in length. Smooth and easy drinking but also complex.

This Chianti has a rich nose of fresh red berries and cherries. It is medium-bodied and elegant on the palate with good cherry, plum and cassis fruit flavors, some herb, spice and tar notes, balanced acidity and a smooth, pleasant finish. An unpretentious Chianti that is perfect alone or with pasta, roasts, and salads.

The farm dates back to the 11th century, when Rignana was a Florentine castle guarding the border with Siena. The main Villa, which used to belong to the noble Ricci family in the 17th century, has recently been restored. The estate has 16 carefully-tended hectares under vine.

Their Chianti Classico is a blend of Sangiovese (80%) and Canaiolo (20%). The beneficial south-eastern exposure and traditional cultivation methods produce this excellent medium-bodied Chianti. The grapes were handpicked and the wine then spent 12 months maturing in oak barrels before release.
