Lots of minerals and sour ripe fruit on the nose. The flavours are refreshing and bitey, once again very minerally and tart, goosberry and sour apple. Balanced finish.

As it warms up the aromas become much rounder, reminding me more of pineapples.

Clear golden white. Fresh fruity aromas of peach & pineapple. It's sweet on the nose. Quite elegant on the palate, light bodied with a little fizz on the tounge. Maybe a little cantelope melon in the mouth. Nice acids, especially at the back end. The acid is zippy without being sour. What I like about this wine is that it isn't sweet or clawing. I also like the contrast between the impression it leaves on the nose and palate.

Medium-bodied dry white wine; medium deep gold. Clean, if somewhat shy, scent of tart apples and flavors that just bloom on the palate, emphasizing crisp apple. Excellent minerality--grown in shale, the grapes contribute to the wine a distinctive "stoniness"--with a slight hint of the taste (not the sweetness) of honey at the close. Good acidity helps keep the finish going. Wine fairly blooms in the glass, wrapping spice, ginger and quince into the flavor mix, so give it time to breathe. Great balance. Elegant and refined. 20.04.2006

The Kirsten Winery is a small family-run winery nestled in the steep hills of Klüsserath in the heart of the Mosel River Region. The winery has been in the family for generations and is dedicated to excellence since today's owner, Bernhard Kirsten, took over in the early 1990s.? In the very steep hills along the Moselle, on a very rocky soil consisting of weathered slate, all work is done by hand, and mechanization is almost impossible. The Kirstens work 10 ha of vineyards, most of them planted with the typical variety for this region, Riesling. They specialize in award-winning sparkling as well as in full-bodied, creamy Riesling still wines.? ?Weingut Kirsten belongs to the 100 Best Wineries in Germany (Feinschmecker; Stern, Bunte) and to the 26 best wineries in the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer Region (Stern). Gault Millau awarded the winery three grapes, and Stern Klasse gave the winery four stars in 2007. The winery also won a Gold Medal for Riesling Trocken in 2006, along with many other accolades.
