Deep cloudy red brown. A very classic shiraz nose of blackberries & mullberries. Nice complexity to the aromas, with a hint of mulsh/forest floor and finally a light alcoholic note. Delicious in the mouth. There are heaps of full tannins, strong acid and dark roasted berries. Very long complex finish. Smashing wine, full bodied and pushy.

Purple. Flavours of berries and cedar. Different to what I am used to. (20.10.08: My tastes have developed considerably since the date of rating)

Purpurrote Farbe. Brombeeren und Holznoten. Weich und rund, läuft wie Öl über die Lippen, leicht bittere Noten. Langer Abgang. Mein griechischer Topp-Favorit. ★★★★↑

Dark colour. Lovely sweet, open nose showing dark fruit that possesses some vanilla richness and a roasted edge. The palate is sweet and seamless with good richness of fruit. Very ripe and open with good density and a roasted, spicy edge. Soft centred. Sophisticated and with good balance, albeit in a modern style. Very good/excellent
Notes
eWine Event: Brought by Dio

Vineyard: Domaine Gerovassiliou is a single estate vineyard of 45 ha. It has a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and temperate summers that are cooled by sea breezes. The vineyard is surrounded on three out of four sides by sea at a distance of nearly 3 km, whereas from vineyard’s west side one can see the Thermaic Gulf, Mount Olympus and the sea coast of Pieria. The soil mainly consists of sand with certain loamy substrata and calcareous rocks. Fossils are also found due to the fact that the whole surrounding hilly area was formed by alluviums.

Vines: Produced from the Domaine's old vines (Petit-Syrah) that are more than 25 years old. They have low yield as the vines are planted in a density of approx. 4000-5000 plants/ha and selected grapes are carried in.

Winemaking: Vintage takes place mid September, maceration and alcoholic fermentation duration is approx. 20 days. Malolactic fermentation follows and thereinafter the wine ages for 24 months in new oak barrels in the basement cellars.
