Medium to clear red with a hint of crimson. The first smell you encounter is of typical french farmyard. Behind that are correctly ripened red fruits. Good full and coarse tanins. This wine has a nice balance, not too fruity but nonetheless complex. Price is typically Karstadt overpriced. It is available online for 6 to 8 €. The next day the wine has mellowed out nicely - no more farmyard. Aromas of blackberry, spicy, pepper. There is a tang to the ripe dark fruits. The tanins are still there as is the acid. Long puckery tanins finish this one off. I like it

Le Domaine de Blayac has been in the Blayac family for five generations. Today they have one aim : to perpetuate the best traditional practice in order to guarantee absolutely unique quality.

The Minervois is one of the oldest vineyards in France. In fact, the Romans chose it to plant the earliest vines in the Languedoc Roussillon. It is named after the ancient Roman stronghold dedicated to Minerva, the daughter of Jupiter and goddess of wisdom, intelligence and war. Over the years, a huge number of amphora and vestiges of cellars keep appearing, proof that wines have a real place in the area's history.

The 40 hectares (100 acre) of vines thrive under the brilliant sun of the Causse du Haut Minervois at Vialanove la Caunette. There isn't much soil, what there is is very arid, and mixed with white, gravely sandstone. It's this characteristic of the Causse that allows the vines to mature fully and produce high quality grapes.

The Pierres Blanches wines undergo a long, traditional maceration, they are regularly drained and circulated.to extract the maximum goodness from the grapes. Here, the true character of the Grenache is seen at its best, with subtle, delicate aromas of cooked red berries.

It's incredibly intensely coloured. The delicate aromas of cooked red berries fill out on the nose. There are silky tannins in the mouth which is full and long.
