I felt like openening this bottle. I've been saving it up, since it comes from my home state in Australia. Up in the hills between Stanthorpe and Toowoomba it is cool enough to grow grapes. There was a nice inital hit of rich ripe fruit right after opening but that subsided and the wine became more closed. It was just out of the fridge at 14deg, so it needed a bit of time. In the mouth, lush. There are mouth coating tannins, not too pushy, surround blackberries, stewed plums and chocolate. Classic shiraz. Bitey acids toward the end give the fruit a tangy toasted edge. Not bad at all. A bit pricey though.

On day 2 the nose has opened out nicely, revealing a fresh fruity soda note, probably from sulphur. Also Allspice. There are tart juicy dark fruit flavours, with good acid. The tannins now seem more subdued.
