Deep red purple, quite cloudy in the centre. Rich dark & very ripe smelling, pepper, seafood. I like the ripeness of the black fruits. Nice strong tanins with a good acidic framework. There's some flavour I can't identify. Long, with wonderful evenness. Nice strength & balance. A bit brutish perhaps. Not overfruity but well ripe.

Bin 2 is a multi-regional blend drawing fruit from warmer vineyard sites including Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek.

The two varieties complement each other well, making an easy drinking wine which is not overtly concentrated, but has plenty of fruit, texture and flavour length. Originally failing to find favour in Australia the 1980 and 1981 vintages became an immediate commercial success in the United Kingdom.

Bright crimson red.Nose The nose shows an immediate, appealing lift of mixed dark fruits laced with liquorice/aniseed, molasses and dark chocolate. A youthful and spicy bouquet, yet with the (subdued) savoury and subtle rustic characters expected from the Bin 2 style. A medium bodied, firm and well structured Bin 2. Primary flavours of stewed rhubarb, pomegranate and dark red berries offer an impressive template for awaiting bottle development and potential complexities. Fine tannins and balanced acidity court a long, lingering finish. Clearly one of the better Bin 2 releases, that will easily support cellaring - improving/evolving with bottle maturation.
