Medium red with a little concentration in the middle. Fresh ripe cherries with a slight smoky earth note. Vanilla. Juicy rich berries, toasted and not too sweet. Long fruity aftertaste, but not much in the Tanin and acid department. Very nice, with interesting aromas and flavours opening out as the wine airs and warms.

Quite a luscious wine soft, but still with substance. Deep purple robe, ripe warm aromas. Rounded and fruity, with a suggestion of spice on the palate. - www.winedrop.co.uk

Woodbridge ZinfandelRich, velvety layers of ripe black cherry, wild berry and peppery spice unfold in our Woodbridge Zinfandel and end in a velvety finish. Barrel aging lends mature flavors and integrates warm vanilla tones with the expressive Zinfandel character. - www.bestinwine.com

The Woodbridge Winery is located in the San Joaquin Delta Region, approximately 30 miles south of Sacramento, in the heart of the Lodi Appellation (one of California's oldest grape growing regions). The winery is ideally located for making wines with grapes grown in any of California's finest viticultural areas.

In winemaking, Woodbridge's approach is to use techniques learned in the production of wines at the Robert Mondavi Winery - Oakville, to modify them for a larger scale, and to capture their essence without sacrificing efficiency. These techniques include the use of gentle enclosed membrane presses for all grape varieties and direct-to-press pressing for white varieties to retain fruitiness and delicacy. In addition, extended skin contact on red wines, aging "sur-lie" (on the yeast) for the dry whites and the extensive use of sixty gallon French oak barrels for aging contribute complexity. All Woodbridge wines are cork-finished and vintage dated.
