Jeff Tolmie - 21.10.2005
Deep ruby red with a hint of brown. Strong, ripe spicy blackcurrant. No significant oaky aromas. Moderate smooth peppered dark berries. Nicely ripend but not overripe. Low tannins and acid on first tasting. Medium length with tannins improving with airing. At every stage this wine is brandmarked by stong spicy fruit. Nice fruity & spicy shiraz for drinking now. This South African shiraz is less a fruit bomb as in Australia, with more pepper.

Drink 2004 to 2008

The first bottle had corked, with evident staining all the way up the cork. The wine had a clearly evident musty smell and taste, with almost no fruit prevailing. The lady at Cuvée took one whif of the cork and that was that; the bottle was immediately replaced without fuss. Having now tasted another bottle, I can say that the corked bottle only had a very subtle hint of the original flavours remaining.
