A nicely intense CabSav, fruity but definitely not sweet. Medium purple red, but fairly consistent from center to rim. Super spicy rich black currants, notes of tobacco. Bitter toasted black berries, with strong acids and tannins. Quite long, but unspectacular.

The Mawson's Wrattonbully Cabernet Sauvignon 2002 is a deep magenta colour. Typical of fine quality, cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon, it has a savoury nose showing elements of berries, briar and wood smoke. Oak aromas meld well with the fruit. The palate opens with warm, ripe berry fruit building with chocolate and cedar flavours. Soft grape and oak tannins give a lengthy finish.
The Yalumba Mawson's is plummy red in colour with purple hues and has a generous aroma of redcurrants, berries and forest fruits fragranced by spicy French oak. On the palate, Cabernet Sauvignon characters of ripe berries and tobacco leaf are supported by a fleshy mid-palate texture and fine tannins. This wine is suitable for immediate drinking, however the wines complex structure ensure this wine can be cellared for 4-5 years
