Alcohol: 14%
Not bad for $13 Canadian. The colour was very deep ruby--just what I like to see. The nose was fairly straightforward and grapey. The flavour was good, simple, alcoholey, and easy to drink. Soft tannins balanced this wine out and made it very drinkable. A bit of a sharp acid bite gave this wine some interesting kick I'm not used to experiencing in reds. The finish was one of the longer ones I've ever experienced, although, to be honest, it wasn't as big as I remembered with the Beringer Zinfandel. Perhaps the finish I had previously gotten was from a Clear Lake or Founder's Estate (more expensive) Zinfandel from Beringer. Don't get me wrong, though--the finish was good with this wine--just not the stuff of legends like I remember. This is a good wine on its own or with solidly-flavoured foods such as pasta or chicken with a kick.
