Full bodied, rich dark fruits - this time a hint of watermelon of all things. (Perhaps I'm smelling the oak aging there). Quite dusty on the nose also. More balanced than the last bottle, with nice tannins. It's still very drinkable, dispite its faults. After five minutes in the glass all the classic Zinfandel/Primitivo flavours push there way to the front. If there's one thing you can say about this wine, it is that it is inconsistent. Every bottle tastes differently, even those of the same vintage.
This wine has a distinctive clear crimson purple appearance. Warm aromas of slightly toasted fruits. Also anseed & caramel. Full flavours of smoked cherry with fine grained tanins and a fair contingent of acid. The finish is medium in length with a bitter toasted finish. Very drinkable although perhaps uncomplicated.
